Solicitation Concerns in Bethel Township

This week, the Bethel Township office has received several resident complaints regarding individuals soliciting during nighttime hours and communicating in an aggressive manner leaving residents with a general feeling of unease. Bethel Township takes these concerns very seriously and is actively pursuing this matter. In Bethel Township, peddlers, or solicitors, must obtain a permit from the Township in which a background check is performed, and licenses are maintained for each individual going door-to-door. Permitted Solicitors will have a card issued by the Township which must be shown upon request. Finally, solicitation is permitted 9:30 AM to 6:30 PM, Monday through Saturday. Should a Bethel Township resident encounter a solicitor that is not meeting these parameters or is not respecting a declination of services, residents should call 911.

In response to these concerns, Bethel Township will be launching a new website page listing all open solicitation permits and dispersing an updated form for residents to apply for the “no-solicitation” list. At this time, J & M Windows and Mr. Softee are licensed and permitted to be soliciting in the Township. All other entities are prohibited from soliciting at this time. Additional updates on this matter and our new solicitation webpage will be posted next week.
