During the regular trash pick-up today, Thursday, December 23rd, 2021, Bethel Township's trash load set off radiation sensors. Our trash hauler, B & L Disposal, has informed us that these sensors are triggered by contaminants from residents undergoing chemotherapy or radiation. If you or a family member are currently undergoing chemotherapy or radiation, any personal trash items that may come in contact with bodily fluids, including, but not limited, feminine hygiene products, diapers, used tissues, etc. cannot be placed in the regular trash. Contaminated items must be separated and left to sit for two weeks prior to disposal in the regular trash. "Hot loads" or trash loads contaminated with radiation can lead to heavy fines and significant delays in trash collection. It is currently unclear if Township-wide recycling will take place tomorrow, December 24th due to the contamination. Determinations regarding tomorrow's recycling pick-up will be announced on the Township's website and social media pages tomorrow morning.
