Official Statement on Unauthorized Letter Distributed in Bethel Township

Bethel Township has been made aware of a misleading letter titled “2026 Tax Deficit” that was placed in residents’ mailboxes without proper postage or USPS processing. This letter contains incorrect information regarding upcoming Township meetings. The public Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday, November 18 at 6:30 PM is simply the Township’s regularly scheduled meeting; the preliminary 2026 budget will not be discussed, and the Shaffer Preserve adoption is not on the agenda. The next scheduled budget meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 9 at 6:30 PM, and the next discussion regarding the Shaffer Preserve is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 PM, as advertised in the Delaware County Daily Times.

Residents should also be aware that placing materials directly into private mailboxes without postage or USPS handling is a federal offense. Anyone who received the letter and wishes to file a complaint is encouraged to call 911 and file a report with the Bethel Township Police Department, which is working with the U.S. Postal Service Police to investigate this matter. Residents who may have home security video footage related to this activity are asked to forward it to the Police Department to assist in the investigation.  Thank you for your cooperation in helping keep our community informed.
