John Schmehl is the President of Friends of Mount Moriah Cemetery a nonprofit organization that since 2011 has been working to restore this approximately 200 acre property in the middle of a densely urban environment in southeastern Pennsylvania.

The cemetery was established in 1855 as a resting place for a diverse population. In 2004 the last surviving board member of the Mount Moriah Cemetery passed away leaving the property effectively ownerless.
