Animal Enforcement

Alan Strickler is the Animal Enforcement Officer for Bethel Township and can be reached at 610-656-9636. He handles stray dogs and the enforcement of the Pennsylvania Dog Laws. This includes the following: 

  • Dogs running at large

  • Dog attack's on people

  • Dog attacks on other animals/dogs

  • Stray dogs


Dogs that are recovered by the Animal Enforcement Officer are taken to Brandywine Veterinary Hospital, 1270 Baltimore Pike, Chadds Ford, PA 19317 – 610-459-0500. When dogs are claimed by their owner or an owner is found after investigative efforts, owners are responsible to pay for all fees incurred while the dog is in the Townships custody.

 

PA State Police are able to enforce all the above in accordance with the Pennsylvania Dog Laws. You can call the PSP by dialing 911 of on their non-emergency number at 484-840-1000.

 

Property owners who recover dogs picked up by the Animal Enforcement Officer are subject to paying all fees incurred while the dog is in the Township's custody. 

 

ANIMAL CRUELTY AND NEGLECT:

DEAD DEER:

Township Roads: Alan Strickler is the Animal Enforcement Officer for Bethel. He handles dead deer on Township Roads and properties. All other wildlife is at the cost of the property owner. Alan can be reached at 610-656-9636.

 

State Roads: Dead deer on State roadways are handled by PennDOT (i.e. Foulk, Garnet Mine, Bethel Road, Naamans Creek). PennDOT can be reached at 610-566-0972.

 

Dog licenses are mandatory for all dogs three (3) months and older. Applications are available at the Delaware County Treasurer’s Office, or mail in applications are available at the physical office. All dogs are required to be under control at all times are not permitted to run at large. Dogs are personal property and owners are responsible for damages caused by their dog.
